John David JenkinsBorn: Sunday, September 7, 1947
Died: Tuesday, May 19th, 2026
John D. Jenkins, 78, of Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at his home.
Born September 7, 1947 in Winchester, he was the son of the late Carson Lee Jenkins and Nettie Agnes Entsminger Jenkins.
John is survived by his daughter, Rachel Ashley (Gary); son, Jonathan “JD” Jenkins (Meghan); grandchildren, Nathan and Josephine Jenkins; brother, Leonard Jenkins; sisters, Frances Pittman and Dorothy Dean; many nieces and nephews; and longtime companion, Alona Craighead.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Jenkins in 2014; brothers, Arthur, Douglas, Norman, and Charles Jenkins; and sisters, Mary Furr and Catherine McKay.
John worked at Kidde Fire Fighting (formerly Badger-Powhatan) in Ranson, WV for nearly 30 years and was a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
John loved watching 80s and 90s action hero movies and never missed an episode of WWE Raw or SmackDown! He spoke fondly of the beach and cruise vacations he took with family and friends, and dreamed of doing more. He was a jokester and loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed seafood and a good steak dinner and could drink coffee all day long.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11AM at the Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Kilyn Brinegar officiating.
Family will receive friends Monday, May 25, 2026 from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery. |

Sharon Allona Jenkins

Died: Tuesday, July 15th, 2014
Sharon Allona Jenkins, 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Hospice of the Panhandle inpatient facility.
Born July 9, 1944 in Berkeley County, she was the daughter of the late Earl Davis Unger and E. Fern Lupton Unger Jennings.
She was retired from the Berkeley County Board of Education where she was a math teacher at South Middle School for 43 years.
Mrs. Jenkins was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, John David Jenkins; one daughter, Rachel Jenkins and one son, Jonathan "JD" Jenkins; one brother, E. Drew Unger and wife, Jennifer, of Martinsburg; one sister, Jeannie Hill and husband George, of Gainsville, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Ellen Heironimus; step-mother, Helen L. Unger and step father, Joseph Jennings.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 18th, at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert G. Brennan, Jr. officiating. Entombment will be held at Rosedale Cemetery. |
