Samuel Davis Sr.
     Samuel Lester Davis Sr., 84,
of Stephens City died Thursday
at Lynn Care Center in Front
Royal.
     The funeral will be conducted
Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maddox
Funeral Home in Front Royal
by Pastor Larry Andrews. Bur-
ial, with military honors by
Strasburg American Legion
Post 77, will be in Riverview
Cemetery in Strasburg.
     Mr. Davis was born Dec. 9,
1923, in Strasburg, son of the
late Samuel Washington and
Zona Alice Entsminger Davis.
He was an Army veteran and
retired from Ford Motor Co. in
Upsilanti, Mich., after 28 years.
He was a member of Faith Bap-
tist Church in Front Royal,
Strasburg American Legion
and the National Rifle Associa-
tion. He was the husband of the
late Peggy Louise Clatterbuck
Davis.
     Surviving are a son, Samuel
Lester Davis Jr. of Stephens
City; a stepson, Steven Long of
Front Royal; two brothers, Alby
Davis of Michigan and Charles
Davis of Idaho; three grandchild-
dren and a great-granddaugh-
ter.
     Pallbearers will be Charles
Clatterbuck, Guy Clatterbuck
Jr., Matthew Clatterbuck, Tim-
othy Clatterbuck, Ronnie
Andrews and Samuel Long.
     Honorary pallbearers will be
Clifton Wilson, Jason Haynes,
John Andrews, Pete Kennedy
and Brian Rogers.
     The family will receive
friends Monday from 7 to 9
p.m. at the funeral home.
     Memorial contributions may
be made to the American Can-
cer Society, 2654 Valley Ave.,

Peggy L. Davis
     Peggy Louise Davis, 63, of Front
Royal died Monday at Winchester
Medical Center.
     The funeral will be conducted Fri-
day at 2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral
Home in Front Royal by the Rev.
Larry Andrews. Burial will be in
Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg.
     Mrs. Davis was born July 23, 1935,
in Warren County, daughter of Guy
Clatterbuck Sr. and Audrea Johnson
Clatterbuck. She was a member of
the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ameri-
can Legion in Strasburg and Com-
munity Faith Baptist Church, serv-
ing as organist for 20 years and trea-
surer for 10 years.
     Surviving are her husband,
Samuel L. Davis Sr.; three sons,
Richard W. Long of Browntown,
Steven E. Long of Front Royal and
Samuel Lester Davis Jr. of Front
Royal; two brothers, Guy R. Clat-
terbuck Jr. of Linden and Charles
Clatterbuck of Front Royal; a
grandson and a stepgranddaugh-
ter.
     Pallbearers will be Samuel Long,
Matthew Clatterbuck, Timothy Clat-
terbuck, Ed Riker, Clifton Wilson
and John Andrews.
     Honorary pallbearers will be Ron-
nie Andrews, Frank Young, Giles
Clatterbuck, Shane Knobs, Richard
McInturff, Butch Yates, James
Kerns and Archie D. Bailey III.
     The family will receive friends
Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
funeral home.
